Real Betis thrash Osasuna 5-2 and prepare to face FC Barcelona

Real Betis secured a resounding 5-2 victory over Osasuna on Sunday evening in LaLiga, continuing their positive results and maintaining their position among the top teams, ahead of the upcoming clash against FC Barcelona in the next round.

Real Betis started the match strongly, relying on high pressing that unsettled Osasuna's defense and made it difficult for them to build attacks. Isco opened the scoring in the 10th minute from a penalty, awarded after Requelme was struck in the face by Unai Santos.

The hosts continued their dominance, with Moroccan Abde Ezzalzouli adding the second goal in the 31st minute after capitalizing on a precise pass from Kucho Hernández. He broke free from goalkeeper Aitor Fernández before slotting the ball into the net. With this goal, Ezzalzouli enhanced his performance against his former team, having found the net against Osasuna in three consecutive matches.

Just before the end of the first half, Isco could have extended the lead, but he squandered two clear chances in the 42nd and 44th minutes, with the Osasuna goalkeeper saving both of his attempts. The first half of the match ended with Real Betis leading by two goals to nil.

With the start of the second half, Real Betis enhanced their lead with a third goal in the 48th minute, scored by Diego Llorente, taking advantage of confusion inside the visitors' penalty area, as the home side appeared to be on their way to an easy victory.

Osasuna quickly returned to the match, with Ante Budimir scoring to reduce the deficit in the 51st minute. Raúl García then added the second goal in the 56th minute, making it 3-2 and reigniting the contest.

The visitors continued their attempts for more than ten minutes, before Isco reappeared, scoring the fourth goal for Real Betis in the 67th minute, and his second of the match, giving his team a comfortable advantage and limiting Osasuna's chances of a comeback.

In the 96th minute, José Morante capped off the goal fest by scoring the fifth goal in his first appearance, firing a shot from outside the penalty area that deflected off a defender and changed direction before finding the net, bringing the match to a close with a resounding victory for the home side by a score of 5-2.

With this victory, Real Betis has recorded its best points tally at this stage of the season, while extending its unbeaten run at the Estadio La Cartuja to 15 matches, indicating the strength of its results in front of its fans.

Isco was one of the standout stars of the match, as he scored two goals and contributed to leading his team to a comprehensive victory, while the match revealed defensive issues for Osasuna, who conceded five goals, despite managing to come back into the game and reduce the deficit to one goal during the second half.

Real Betis are preparing to face FC Barcelona in the upcoming round with high spirits, having confirmed their attacking strength and maintained their position among the top teams, awaiting a new test against one of their main rivals in LaLiga.
