Al-Dawsari begins return journey to AFC Asian Cup from Al-Hilal vs Al-Ittihad classic

Salem Al-Dawsari, captain of Al-Hilal, is nearing his return to action after a long absence, with anticipation building for his appearance against Al-Ittihad next Saturday in the 8th round of the Saudi Pro League at Kingdom Arena.

Salem Al-Dawsari is expected to start the match on the bench, with Italian coach Simone Inzaghi determining his potential involvement based on the team's needs and his physical and technical condition.

Al-Hilal captain Salem Al-Dawsari joined the team’s training sessions last Thursday after successfully completing his rehabilitation program, gradually beginning to regain his fitness ahead of the anticipated clásico.

Salem Al-Dawsari last officially played for Al-Hilal on May 21, 2026, against Al-Fayha FC in Al-Majma'ah, in the final round of the Saudi Pro League, before joining the national team camp in preparation for the FIFA World Cup.

The international star underwent knee tendon surgery in Finland last July, followed by an intensive rehabilitation program. He missed the Gulf 27, with hopes of returning to lead Saudi Arabia in the AFC Asian Cup.
