Spanish midfielder David Silva is making a return to football after announcing his retirement in 2023. He has signed a contract with Southern District, a club competing in the Hong Kong Premier League, embarking on a new adventure on the pitch at the age of 40.


The club has officially announced the signing of the legendary Spanish midfielder David Silva, who wears the number 21 shirt, to Suprem Chai Tin. The club stated in a statement: "We officially announce the signing of the legendary Spanish midfielder David Silva, wearing the number 21 shirt, to Suprem Chai Tin."


David Silva expressed his happiness about returning to football, saying: "I am very happy to join Suprem Chai Tin, and I am excited to go to Hong Kong and learn about its culture and people, as well as enjoy football there. I am really looking forward to going, and I will see you soon."


David Silva announced his retirement from football in July 2023 at the age of 37 after a career spanning nearly 20 years, during which he was forced to end his career following a serious tear in his anterior cruciate ligament. Throughout his career, he achieved notable titles, most prominently the FIFA World Cup and two UEFA European Championships with the Spain national team, along with four Premier League titles with Manchester City.


David Silva has won five titles in the EFL Cup, two in the FA Cup, and three in the Community Shield, in addition to the Copa del Rey with Valencia and Real Sociedad. Throughout his career, he played 784 matches, scoring 124 goals and providing 154 assists, representing clubs such as Eibar, Celta Vigo, Valencia, Manchester City, and Real Sociedad, before adding Suprem Chatin to his list of stops.
