Simeone's stance on continuing with Atlético
Diego Simeone's future is a key issue for Atlético Madrid as his contract with the club expires on June 30, with both parties keen for him to continue for another season.
According to the Spanish newspaper "AS", Diego Simeone wants to continue his mission with Atlético, and the club's management is inclined to keep him. However, the two parties have not yet sat down to begin contract renewal talks, and there is no rush to resolve the matter.
The newspaper explained that Simeone preferred to wait and monitor the start of the season and the team's level, especially after the changes that have occurred in Atlético's squad for the second consecutive season and the departure of Antoine Griezmann. It is expected that the upcoming breaks or the Christmas period will be suitable for opening the renewal file.
Despite the connection of Diego Simeone's name with the Argentina national team and some Italian clubs, Atlético represents the coach's priority, who still wishes to continue if the club's desire is similar. His last contract renewal occurred in 2023, allowing him to stay with the team until 2027.
It is not just about Simeone, as Atlético must resolve Marcos Llorente's future, which is set to expire, alongside working to improve Mark Pobill's contract, which is linked to the club until 2030, amid interest from clubs in the Premier League.
