Shobeir criticises his son Mustafa after South Africa goal
Ahmed Shobair, the former goalkeeper of the Egypt national team and Al Ahly FC, has criticized his son Mostafa Shobair following the goal scored by South Africa against Egypt in the friendly match played last night, Sunday.
South Africa secured a victory against Egypt with a goal to nil in a friendly match held last night at Cairo International Stadium.
Ahmed Shobair stated in a television interview: "South Africa's goal came from a mistake by Mustafa Shobair; Captain El-Gohary always taught us that a goalkeeper is like a pilot, you shouldn't worry about dancing around."
He added: "When you take the ball from above the striker, you either put it out, or clear the ball, or don't come out if you're not 100% sure of the ball."
Shobeir continued: "Excessive confidence and wanting to dance is not the job of a goalkeeper; it's the job of the players only. This is a lesson, because excessive confidence leads to these results."
He concluded his statements by saying: "Thank God it happened in a Friendly, but it is a lesson for the upcoming matches," emphasizing the need for goalkeepers to handle such situations with caution, especially during official matches.
