Paulo sends crucial message to Wydad players: no guaranteed place in the lineup
Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio has sent a clear message to his players following Wydad Casablanca's victory over Difaa Hassani Jadidi by two goals to nil, emphasizing that the competition for starting positions will remain open, and that securing participation in upcoming matches depends on daily effort and hard work.
The Portuguese coach, during the press conference that followed the match, stressed that determining the starting lineup cannot be done early, explaining that the players' performance in training and their level of commitment will be the main criteria for selecting the players who will participate in the matches.
Paulo Sergio said in this regard: "The starting lineup is the one we rely on at the moment, and daily work is what will determine who deserves a place in it. We cannot talk about a fixed lineup after just one day."
The coach of the red team stated: "We have a competitive group that includes many young players, as I mentioned before, and I want everyone to stay motivated because the tournament is very long."
The Portuguese coach said: "We have ideas regarding the team, and we have slightly changed the strategy compared to the last match, and I believe it has worked much better."
He added: "We wanted to press during the last match in Casablanca, and that was part of our strategy, but we were not organized enough, and we failed to implement the press collectively," before confirming that disorganized pressing leaves spaces for opponents.
