For the first time.. Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates face off in Arabian Gulf Cup final
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have made an exceptional mark in the history of the Arabian Gulf Cup, having reached the final for the first time, setting up an anticipated clash between the two neighbors in 'Gulf 27'.
The 'Green' will face the 'White' of the United Arab Emirates next Tuesday at the Al-Inma Stadium in Jeddah, after the UAE national team overcame Oman with a narrow 1-0 victory, while the Saudi national team eliminated Qatar via penalties.
Saudi Arabia are looking to regain the Arabian Gulf Cup in the final, having not held the trophy since 2003, as they seek to win the tournament for the fourth time.
The United Arab Emirates national team aims to add a third Arabian Gulf Cup title to its record, having previously won the tournament twice, the last time being in the 2013 edition.
The upcoming final gives both teams a new opportunity to write a different history in the tournament, after they qualified through contrasting paths, with a decisive Emirati victory over Oman and a Saudi qualification via penalties.
Attention turns to the Al-Inma Stadium in Jeddah, where the two national teams meet in the first Arabian Gulf Cup final between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in a direct battle for the title and a historic achievement.
