Argentina thrash Burkina Faso in friendly
Argentina secured a resounding victory against Burkina Faso, winning 7-0 in a friendly match held at the Monumental Stadium.
Argentina did not need much time to open the scoring, as they were awarded a penalty in the 4th minute. The Burkina Faso goalkeeper saved the initial shot, but Lautaro Martínez followed up and found the net, giving the home side an early lead.
Argentina doubled their lead just four minutes later through Moumouni Diallo, who scored an own goal, before Gianluca Prestianni added the third in the 12th minute, benefiting from a pass by Lautaro Martínez.
Argentina continued to apply pressure, with Nico Paz scoring the fourth goal in the 35th minute, before Julián Alvarez added the fifth just one minute later, ending the first half with Argentina leading by five goals to nil.
In the second half, Argentina continued their attack despite the large margin, and Franco Mastantuono managed to score the sixth goal in the 57th minute, after a pass from Lautaro Martínez.
The goal fest did not stop until the final moments, as Giuliano Simeone capped off the seven-goal haul in the 3rd minute of stoppage time, following a pass from Valentín Barco, leaving the score at Argentina 7-0 Burkina Faso.
The match was also part of the preparations for the anticipated farewell of Lionel Messi to the Argentina national team, in the upcoming encounter against Benin at the Monumental Stadium.
