Al Ahly requests $500,000 to participate in the Super
Ahmed Shobair, the former goalkeeper of Al Ahly and the Egypt national team, has revealed the club's stance on participating in the upcoming Egyptian Super Cup.
Shobeir stated in television remarks: "Al Ahly intends to request $500,000 for participating in the domestic Super Cup, which is a large amount for the Football Association and the host country."
Shobir confirmed that Ahly's insistence on its position to apologize or withdraw will compel the Egyptian Football Association to search for a replacement and invite another team to take its place in the tournament, adding that this absence will represent a significant blow to the event.
Al Ahly are preparing to face Petrojet on Wednesday at the Al Salam Stadium in the first round of the Cairo Capital Cup.
Al Ahly will face Zamalek on Sunday, October 11, in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
