From the margins of football to a legend at two clubs: the story of Blair Henderson
Blair Henderson's story tells of an exceptional journey in football, as he transitioned from a player whose career appeared to be at a dead end to a striker who left a big mark and became one of the most prominent names in the history of two clubs in Edinburgh.
Henderson did not have the best start to his career, as he moved between several Scottish clubs before finding his way with Edinburgh City. There, his name began to stand out more, especially after he had an exceptional scoring season, finishing as the top scorer in the Scottish League Two with 30 goals in the 2018-2019 season.
However, the most significant chapter in his career came with Spartans, where he played between 2021 and 2025. During that time, Henderson transformed into one of the standout forwards in the club's history, scoring 106 goals in 190 matches, confirming his ability to make a difference despite arriving late to the spotlight.
Henderson played a key role in important moments in Spartans' history, scoring the decisive penalty that helped the team qualify through the playoffs, before continuing his impressive form in domestic competitions. He also scored the club's first competitive goal in the Scottish Professional Football League during the historic victory over Dundee United in the League Cup in 2023.
In March 2024, Henderson reached the 100-goal mark in the Scottish Professional Football League after scoring during Spartans' 2-2 draw with Bonnyrigg Rose. In the same season, he finished as the league's top scorer with 18 goals.
Thus, Blair Henderson's journey transformed from a tale of a player who did not receive enough opportunities at the highest levels of Scottish football to a story of a striker who became a symbol at two different clubs, proving that a late arrival at the top does not necessarily mean the end of the dream.
