Confusion over Wirtz's future with Liverpool: Is he leaving in 2027?

Reports have conflicted regarding Florian Wirtz's future with Liverpool, as the club continues to monitor Rayan Cherki, a Manchester City player.

Florian Wirtz has joined Liverpool in the summer of 2025 from Bayer 04 Leverkusen for £100 million, alongside £16 million in add-ons, but he did not deliver the expected level during his first season despite improving his performance later.

According to "Bild", the summer of 2027 could be a suitable time for Wirtz to leave if he does not show the expected development, while "TEAMtalk" noted that Liverpool are not considering selling him at the moment and remain committed to helping him regain his best form, with the club confident in coach Andoni Iraola's ability to develop him.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are continuing to monitor Rayan Cherki, who they previously attempted to sign from Olympique Lyon before his move to Manchester City for £34 million in June 2025.

TEAMtalk has clarified that Liverpool and Arsenal could move to sign Rayan Cherki if Manchester City are relegated to the Championship amid potential sanctions in the financial rules case.
