FA comments on Manchester City conviction with official statement
The FA issued an official statement today, Friday, following the independent committee's decision in the Manchester City case, confirming that it is reviewing the decision and its implications before taking any future steps.
The English FA said in its statement: "The independent committee's decision has significant implications for the integrity of the game. We are carefully considering the decision and its implications, and we will take appropriate action when it is deemed necessary."
The statement added: "As the proceedings between the Premier League and Manchester City are still ongoing, we do not intend to comment further at this stage, but we will continue to monitor developments closely."
The FA's statement follows Manchester City's conviction on 114 out of 115 charges related to breaches of Premier League financial rules, as concluded by the independent committee.
The statement does not mean that a new penalty has been imposed on Manchester City, as the procedures related to the case are still ongoing, while the club has the right to appeal the decision within the specified timeframe.
