Atlético begin search for Jan Oblak's successor
Atlético continue their efforts in anticipation of life after Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak, as young Argentine Santiago Beltrán, goalkeeper of CA River Plate, has been placed among the top options for his future replacement.
According to "Fichajes", Atlético are monitoring the development of Beltrán, who is 21 years old, and consider him one of the top candidates to guard the team's goal if Oblak departs, with no official negotiations between the Spanish club and CA River Plate so far.
Atlético's interest in Beltrán comes amid uncertainty regarding Jan Oblak's future, who has been linked with a potential departure from the club in the near future, despite his contract with the team still being in effect. Spanish and Argentine reports indicate that Atlético's management has already begun exploring available options to secure the future of the goalkeeper position.
CA River Plate are looking to secure the future of their young goalkeeper, as Beltrán is contracted to the club until December 2027. The management is working on extending his contract and improving his terms, amid increasing interest from European clubs.
According to reports, CA River Plate have set a starting price of €15 million to negotiate the sale of Beltrán, with the club wanting to secure better financial terms before agreeing to his departure. Other sources indicate that the Argentine club is looking to increase the buyout clause in a new contract to protect one of their standout talents.
Atletico are currently monitoring Beltrán and assessing his development, while no official negotiations have started with CA River Plate. The young goalkeeper remains a strong candidate to succeed Jan Oblak if the Slovenian keeper decides to end his long journey with the Madrid club.
