El Mahdi Soliman nears Egypt national team goalkeeping in Friendlies against South Africa
The newspaper "Youm7" revealed that the coaching staff of the Egypt national team, led by Hossam Hassan, is moving towards implementing a rotation policy in the goalkeeper position during the upcoming friendly match against South Africa on Sunday evening. This step is part of the technical team's efforts to give new names a chance and to assess the technical and physical readiness of all squad members.
The coach is considering resting goalkeeper Mustafa Shobeir after relying on him as a starter in the previous two matches against Angola and South Africa. The technical staff is contemplating giving one of the three backup goalkeepers on the current list a chance: El Mahdi Soliman, Mohamed Alaa, or Abdoul Aziz, to assess their performance.
El Mahdi Soliman is among the top candidates to start against South Africa, as the coaching staff aims to benefit from his international experience and give him the opportunity to participate.
Egypt will face South Africa next Sunday, October 4, at Cairo International Stadium in a friendly.
