The truth about FC Barcelona's attempt to sign Josko Gvardiol before his Manchester City contract renewal

FC Barcelona were interested in signing Croatian Josko Gvardiol during the last season, seeing him as a suitable option to strengthen their defense, thanks to his ability to play in both center-back and full-back positions.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", FC Barcelona explored the situation regarding Josko Gvardiol, but found that securing his transfer was not easy, especially as Manchester City were not willing to let him go, alongside the club's desire to improve his contract.

Josko Gvardiol was trusted by the coaching staff, and the player himself did not want to change his environment, as he has received an offer to renew his contract with Manchester City.

As a result, FC Barcelona is looking at other targets to bolster their defense, including Italian Alessandro Bastoni, a defender for Inter.

Ultimately, Josko Gvardiol has renewed his contract with Manchester City at the end of July last year until June 30, 2031, with an improved salary.
