Arnold: It was hard to break through the Czech defense, and this is what we needed

Alexander Arnold, the England defender, spoke about the win against the Czech Republic, confirming that his team faced difficulties in breaking through the opponent's defense despite having possession of the ball, before successfully scoring an early goal in the second half.

Arnold said: "Although we had a lot of possession inside and around the penalty area, it is very difficult to break down their defence, but we scored the goal early in the second half, and that is what we needed."

"The longer the match remained 0-0, the harder things became, they gain confidence in their ability to hold on, so it was good to score the goal."

He continued: "When their number of players becomes ten, there is greater pressure on us to win the match, but in reality, this makes it much more difficult; they become more cohesive and defend with a large number of players."

Regarding his assist to Gordon, he said: "I spoke with Gordon at half-time and told him if I get into those spaces and intend to send the ball, make sure you get to the far post. Of course, don't expect it to happen that quickly, but it did."

Arnold praised Gordon, saying: "He is a player who is always moving and running, and it’s great to play with him. I get the ball, lift my head to see the best option available, I try to play forward and create something, and when I saw his movement, I was able to make the pass."
