Oman qualify for Semi-Final of Arabian Gulf Cup 27 after draw, Iraq exit the tournament

The draw held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Jeddah saw Oman qualify for the Semi-Final of the Arabian Gulf Cup, at the expense of Iraq.

The draw was resorted to after a complete tie between the two teams in points, goal difference, number of goals scored and conceded, as well as equality in the 'fair play' card criteria.

Oman secured 4 points in the group stage after winning against Kuwait 3-1, while Iraq lost to Saudi Arabia 2-0, leaving both teams tied on all tiebreaker criteria.

The match between Oman and Kuwait witnessed an emotional incident in the qualification calculations, as Musab Al-Shaqsy scored the third goal for Oman and then celebrated by taking off his shirt, resulting in a yellow card.

The card was crucial in fair play calculations, as Oman had an advantage in the number of cards before Musab Al-Shaqsy received the warning, but the card leveled both teams in this criterion as well.
