Lesotho coach: Facing Morocco is an opportunity to measure our capabilities

Lesotho's coach Bob Mafoso describes the upcoming match against Morocco as an important test for his team, affirming that facing one of the strong teams on both the continental and global levels represents a valuable opportunity for the development of the group. This match is part of the second round of Africa Cup of Nations Qualification 2027.

Mafoso explained during the press conference ahead of the match that his national team does not find itself facing teams of Morocco's size on a regular basis, considering that the encounter represents an important opportunity to continue the development that the team has started in recent years.

Lesotho's coach praised the level that the Morocco national team has reached, both on the African stage and during their participation in the last two editions of the World Cup, pointing out that facing the "Atlas Lions" will give his players a real opportunity to test their abilities and identify the areas that need improvement.

Mafoso confirmed that the coaching staff approached the match as a significant challenge, explaining that preparations began more than two weeks ago, with the aim of reaching the best possible readiness before facing this tough test.

He added that the most important thing for the Lesotho national team at the moment is to manage the details of the match well and to benefit from it in assessing the team's level against a strong opponent, in addition to making adjustments that would help improve its performance in the upcoming phase.

Lesotho began their Africa Cup of Nations Qualification campaign with a defeat against Niger, losing by a goal to nil. They remain at the bottom of Group A without any points, tied with Gabon. Meanwhile, Morocco tops the group with 3 points and a goal difference of +2, ahead of Niger, who also has the same points but a goal difference of +1.

Morocco will face Lesotho tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Free State Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
