Gilaardini close to leading Parma with first training on Tuesday

Alberto Gilardino is close to taking over as head coach of Parma, having become the leading candidate to succeed Carlos Queiroz, who left his position by mutual consent on Sunday. Reports have confirmed that there have been direct communications between the two parties in recent hours.

Gianluca Giallardino needs to terminate his contract with Pisa before he can officially sign with Parma, as the parties involved are currently working on finalizing the details of the agreement. Giallardino was among the names that Parma considered before signing with Cuesta in the summer of 2025.

Negotiations are currently focused on the contract duration, with the option of signing until June 2027 with the possibility of extending for an additional season, or directly agreeing on a contract that runs until 2028.

It is expected that, if the agreement is finalized and he ends his association with Pisa, Alberto Gilardino will lead his first training session with Parma on Tuesday, in preparation for the upcoming clash against Inter in the sixth round of Serie A.
