Tuchel explains England's loss to Spain

Thomas Tuchel, the head coach of the England national team, spoke about the loss to Spain (3-2) in the UEFA Nations League, confirming that the start was catastrophic, but his team regained its balance and delivered strong periods during the match, before mistakes decided the result in favor of the Spanish national team.

Thomas Tuchel stated in remarks to ITV Sport: "The start of the match was very bad, the worst possible start. It is very difficult to fall behind against a team of this kind. After 10 or 12 minutes, I think we became the better team and imposed our control in the opponent's half."

He added: "We created chances and scored two goals, and it was our best 15 minutes since the start of the match. But we couldn't convert the penalty. I believe that if we had scored it, perhaps Spain would have felt that their long unbeaten run would end here."

England manager said: "We made another big mistake that led to the equalizing goal at 2-2. As for the third goal, it was the only goal that Spain actually scored from a real opportunity. That's what happened. We need to keep working and learn from this match, taking the positives with us and heading to the Czech Republic."

Regarding Anthony Gordon's goal and whether it embodies the way England should play, Tuchel replied: "No, Anthony Gordon's goal came from a counter-attack. Gordon's performance was good, with some positives and negatives, just like the team overall. This is a team sport."

He explained: "It was a wonderful goal from the attacking transitions. We scored amazing goals, and we could have created more if we had been more decisive in the last 20 meters. We regained the ball an enormous number of times, but we didn't convert that into chances and goals enough; otherwise, we would have won the match."

England manager concluded his remarks on the result by saying: "Of course, there were some very good periods in the match, but there will always be moments where you suffer like this. The important thing is to take your chances. Some periods of the match were very good, but the result today does not reflect that."
