Bazunu announces refusal to play against the Israeli entity: it would be wrong for me to play

Gavin Bazunu, the goalkeeper for the Republic of Ireland national team, has announced his refusal to participate in his country's matches against Israel in the UEFA Nations League, stating that his decision is based on his personal beliefs and his stance on what is happening in the region.

Bazzouno stated in a published statement: "Representing my country means everything to me, and I have great respect for all my teammates, the coach, his staff, and the Irish people. However, I have made a decision that was not easy, and as a man of strong faith who strives to be a person of character and principle, I feel it would be wrong to participate in the upcoming matches against the Zionist entity."

Ireland's goalkeeper added: "My decision is based entirely on my personal belief that killing innocents is wrong," explaining that his stance "is not against the Israeli people or the Jewish community, but against the atrocities in the region."

Bazouno concluded his statement by saying: "There are few times in life when you get the chance to stand up for something bigger than yourself, and I strongly believe that this is one of those moments," emphasizing that his decision was not easy despite the importance of representing his national team to him.
