Fariñas awaits his first opportunity with FC Barcelona

Brian Fariñas continues training with the first team of FC Barcelona during the international break, but he remains the only player in the squad who has not played a single minute since the start of the 2026/2027 season, despite Hans Flick praising him during the pre-season.

According to "Mundo Deportivo", Brian Fariñas, the 20-year-old midfielder, was included in FC Barcelona's squad against Elche, Athletic Bilbao, Rayo Vallecano, and Feyenoord, but remained on the bench. He was then excluded from the squad for matches against Valencia, Levante, and Racing, and was not called up for the clash against Sevilla.

FC Barcelona has halted Brian Fariñas' transfer to Girona for €1.5 million during the summer, while the player has accepted his new role after having a good season with Athletic Bilbao, participating in five friendly matches during the pre-season for a total of 198 minutes.

Flick praised the player ahead of the match against Rayo, confirming that he surprised him a lot during the preparation period. He described him as excellent and possessing great talent, noting his commitment and ability to play in multiple positions. However, he clarified that the strong competition in midfield makes it difficult for him to get minutes.

Brian Fariñas continues to work with the first team during the international break, awaiting his first opportunity to participate with FC Barcelona this season.
