FC Barcelona turns history on its head and outperforms Real Madrid in LaLiga

FC Barcelona continues to shift the balance of history in LaLiga, having surpassed Real Madrid by 49 goals in total goals scored across 96 editions of the competition, with 6705 goals compared to 6656 for the royal team.

According to "Mundo Deportivo", FC Barcelona was trailing Real Madrid by 8 goals in the 2019/2020 season, before successfully turning this deficit to its advantage in recent years, benefiting from its scoring prowess over the past decade.

Since the 2016/2017 season, during which FC Barcelona scored 116 goals, the Catalan team began to gradually close the gap, having scored 75 goals more than Real Madrid over the next five seasons, up to the 2020/2021 season. In the three seasons from 2021/2022 to 2023/2024, Real Madrid outscored them by 25 goals, but that was not enough to maintain their historical lead.

FC Barcelona has established a greater advantage in recent seasons, having scored 102 goals compared to 78 for Real Madrid in the 2024/2025 season, then 95 to 77 in the 2025/2026 season. Currently, they lead by 13 goals in the 2026/2027 season, with 31 goals against 18 for the royal team. Thus, FC Barcelona has netted 921 goals compared to 815 for Real Madrid over the last 11 years, a difference of 106 goals.

FC Barcelona's dominance extends to the number of LaLiga titles won in the 21st century, having secured 13 titles compared to Real Madrid's 9.
