Ter Stegen: It was a strong match as we wanted, and this is what we need to do

Marc André ter Stegen, the goalkeeper for the Germany national team, spoke about his team's 1-1 draw with the Netherlands in their UEFA Nations League opener, confirming his satisfaction with the team's performance despite some areas needing work.

Ter Stegen said: "Our start was good, although there are many things we need to work on, it was very difficult for us to find solutions. For all of us, it was a strong match, and that is exactly what we wanted, and I am happy that we performed well."

Speaking about the match between two teams led by new coaches for the first time, he said: "The situation was complicated, but you could recognize the playing style of both coaches. It was unfortunate that we could not secure the win after being ahead 1-0, and then we lost that lead in the last minute."

Marc-André ter Stegen praised Philipp Träsch, who made his international debut for Germany, confirming that he handled a difficult task well against Cody Gakpo. He said: "I am very happy for him, he had a very tough job defending against a player of quality like Cody Gakpo, but we never wanted him to be alone on that side, he dealt with it well."
