Gakpo: Van Bommel's pass was brilliant, and the draw is a bit disappointing

Cody Gakpo, Netherlands international and scorer of the equaliser against Germany, spoke about the details of his goal scored in the 92nd minute.

Gakpo said: "Robben van Bommel regained the ball very well at the touchline and made a great run. I sprinted towards the far post hoping he would see me, and he did. It was a brilliant assist, and then I had to keep the ball low."

Speaking about the draw against Germany, he said: "The first half was not good from us, but in the second half we continued to play, pressed them and created good chances. Of course, we wanted to win, so the draw is a bit disappointing."

Cody Gakpo spoke about the Netherlands' first match under coach Xavi, saying: "When you have a new coach, everyone wants to have a fresh start, he brings a lot of passion, strength, and energy, now it is up to us to show that on the pitch."

Gakpo also touched on his role as one of the more experienced players in the national team, saying: "I feel comfortable in this role, I try to convey to the new players the values needed to play for the national team. Both, Mexx Meerdink and Ruud van Nistelrooy, have performed wonderfully, showing courage, passion, and energy."
