Dounis calls up Abdulquddus Atiah to green camp after Al-Aqidi injury

Saudi Arabia's coach Georgios Donis has called up goalkeeper Abdulquddus Atiah to the national team's camp in Jeddah to replace the injured Nawaf Al-Aqidi during the match against Kuwait.

Nawaf Al-Aqidi left the match between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait after suffering an injury, with Mohammed Al-Owais taking his place in the final minutes, during a game that ended with the Green Falcons winning by a goal to nil.

The Saudi national team is preparing to face Oman on September 26, ahead of their match against Iraq on September 29. Meanwhile, the Green Falcons will return to training on Thursday evening with a closed session at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

Abdulquddus Atiah has joined Al-Adalah in July 2026 from Al-Taawoun, and he has participated with his new team in 6 matches during the current season, keeping a clean sheet 5 times and conceding one goal.

Nawaf Al-Aqidi has previously represented Al-Taawoun in 23 matches, conceding 32 goals, while keeping a clean sheet in 6 encounters. He has also played for Al-Fayha FC, Al-Wehda, and Al-Adalah.

On the international stage, Abdulquddus Atiah has participated with the Saudi Arabia national team in two matches, the first in 2018 and the second this year. His call-up for Gulf Cup 27 gives him a new chance with the Green.
