Amid English interest, Scalvini reaches agreement with Atalanta on contract renewal

Giorgio Scalvini, the Atalanta defender, has reached an agreement on a new long-term contract with the Italian club that runs until 2031, but this step will not stop Premier League clubs from being interested in signing him, according to TEAMtalk.

Scalvini, aged 22, is regarded as one of the top young defenders in Europe, having returned to form after an anterior cruciate ligament injury in 2024 and shoulder surgery in 2025. He featured in around 30 matches for Atalanta last season.

Newcastle are leading the race for the Italian defender, having attempted to sign him multiple times. They made another move during the summer, but Atalanta rejected his departure.

TEAMtalk has reported that Tottenham and Chelsea have also inquired about the player's situation, while Manchester City and Manchester United have been monitoring him for years.

Despite Scalvini reaching his new agreement with Atalanta, English interest remains, with clubs continuing to monitor his situation, especially since his new contract will protect the high financial value set by the Italian club for the player.
