FC Barcelona faces exceptional situation in goalkeeping

FC Barcelona faces an unusual situation this season in the goalkeeper position, having three experienced international goalkeepers after signing the Croatian Dominik Livakovic until 2030, alongside Juan Garcia and Szczęsny.

Inaki Pena has joined Panathinaikos for €3 million, while Aaron Jakubowski and Diego Kochin have left on loan. With Wojciech Szczesny renewing his contract for another season, it seemed he would continue his role as a backup to Juan Garcia, before Dominik Livakovic's arrival changed the landscape.

According to "Sport", Wojciech Szczęsny and Dominik Livaković competed for the chance to replace Juan García, before Hans Flick opted for the Polish goalkeeper after García's injury against Racing Santander. However, Livaković ultimately got the opportunity against Sevilla, conceded one goal, and delivered a good performance.

This is a rare situation in La Liga, as FC Barcelona has three goalkeepers with international experience. Juan García has represented Spain, Dominik Livakovic is the first-choice goalkeeper for Croatia, while Szczęsny has played 84 matches for Poland before retiring from international football.
