Lazio's Lotito criticises transfer market rules and taxes in Italy

Claudio Lotito, president of SS Lazio, spoke before the Italian parliament about financial rules related to player contracts, calling for legislative changes he sees as necessary to support Italian clubs.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito stated: "The rules apply, but they need to be changed, and Parliament can do that." He added: "Does it seem normal to you that clubs can buy back football players in other competitions at any time of the year?"

He continued: "While we can't do that? If a player costs 10 million euros here, you pay more than 12 million with VAT, then there is the bank guarantee."

The president of SS Lazio concluded his remarks by pointing out that these rules, in his view, create a disparity in treatment between domestic and foreign signings, stating: "It is a disadvantage that favors purchases from abroad, where you have to spend less money."
