Saudi Arabia secures tough win against Kuwait in Gulf Cup opener

Saudi Arabia secured a narrow victory against Kuwait with a goal to nil in their opening match of Group A at the Gulf Cup 'Khaliji 27'. The match took place at the Al-Inma Stadium.

The first half saw a disallowed goal for Saudi Arabia scored by Mohammed Abu Al-Shamat in the 37th minute, after the referee awarded a foul against his teammate Mohamed Kanno during the build-up.

The Green continued to apply pressure in search of a breakthrough goal, amidst Kuwaiti attempts to keep a clean sheet, ending the first half in a goalless draw between the two teams.

The only goal of the match came in the 73rd minute, when Yousef Al-Haqan accidentally put the ball into the net of the Kuwait national team, giving Saudi Arabia the lead in the Gulf encounter.

Kuwait attempted to equalize in the remaining minutes, but Saudi Arabia's defense held firm, ending the match with a victory for the Green by one goal to nil.

The Saudi Arabia national team has increased its tally to 3 points, placing them at the top of Group A in the Gulf Cup 27, while Kuwait remains without points after the opening round.
