Paris Saint-Germain comments on Hakimi's referral to trial for rape charges

Paris Saint-Germain has received official confirmation that their Moroccan player Achraf Hakimi will be tried in the criminal court of the Hauts-de-Seine region in France, following accusations in a rape case dating back to 2023.

The French Court of Cassation announced today, Wednesday, that it has upheld the decision to refer Achraf Hakimi to trial, after the Versailles Court of Appeal confirmed in June the decision to refer him to trial, meaning he has exhausted all available avenues of appeal within the French judiciary.

Since the beginning of the case, Achraf Hakimi has maintained his denial of the accusations against him, while Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed its continued support for its player, emphasizing that the Moroccan full-back remains presumed innocent until a final court ruling is issued.

The club stated: "Achraf Hakimi has always firmly denied the allegations against him, and he remains innocent under the law to this day. The club is keen to provide a calm and respectful working environment for its player, in line with the fundamental principles of the law."

The club added: "The club also reaffirms its ongoing and clear commitment to combating all forms of violence, particularly sexual violence."

The case is set to be heard in the criminal court in the Hauts-de-Seine region, as Hakimi continues to assert his innocence and deny all the allegations against him.
