Hesham Nasr comments on fan attack and sale of Juan Bezerra

Hisham Nasr, the vice president of Zamalek SC, discussed several issues concerning the club, including recent fan criticism and the sale of Brazilian Juan Bezerra to Shabab Al-Ahli.

Hisham Nasr opened his statements to MBC Masr by saying: "I believe there is no one on earth who does not make mistakes.. Certainly, there are mistakes, and I have never said before that we have not made mistakes.. Rather, there are mistakes, and we must learn from our mistakes or address them."

He added: "But we must ask this question: Were these mistakes made in circumstances where we were comfortable, and all the resources were available to us, yet we made wrong decisions? Or were there reasons that led us to make these wrong decisions?".

Regarding the attack from Zamalek SC fans during the match against Al Minaa, he said: "I felt sad for one main reason, which is the timing... without exaggeration, I had spent two months in a severe illness, and I was hospitalized twice, spending a long time there, and it was a bit difficult."

He continued: "In the midst of this period, you find yourself the person who is being insulted alone, and that is in the first match, in a match that the team won, while you were away from the scene for two months."

"But let me acknowledge and admit that the fans have the right to criticize, chant, and express their opinions about everything. There is no blame or problem with the fans. If I am wrong, they have the right to criticize me."

He continued: "Honestly, when I was surprised by the matter, I inquired about it.. I imagined that even when I wrote thank you on my Facebook account, I would be told: 'Wishing you a speedy recovery, how are you? We need you.' I imagined that, but unfortunately, I found that it was not the case."

Regarding the sale of Juan Bezerra, Nasser said: "If I had the financial luxury and full coverage to meet my team's needs, would I have made this decision? Technically, no, definitely not... Bezerra was like the cream of the crop or the best in the team."

He added: "Of course, he wasn't playing alone, but he was the player who made the difference. If I had financial stability due to having a football company and financial sustainability, I couldn't agree to this decision."

When asked about Juan Bezerra's departure from Zamalek SC, he said: "People are not with us during the negotiations, and they do not know the details and conditions that govern matters. When you are in a certain position, I certainly did not want to part with Bezerra, and the decision was very difficult."

He explained: "If you look at how things have gone and the agreements that have taken place, then we sat down with the legal advisors, and we studied all the possibilities: what would happen if we terminated the contract? What would happen if he terminated it? If he didn't show up, where would we end up? And if we kept him in the team and sat him on the bench, what would happen then?".

He continued: "In the end, Zamalek SC will remain Zamalek SC, whether Bezerra is present or not. Zamalek SC is a club that creates stars. Everyone comes to Zamalek SC to shine, whether they are players or coaches, and that is why we need to solve the financial problem that puts us in such situations."
