Kayode: Playing for Italy is an honor and we must write a new chapter

Michael Kayode, the player for the Italy national team, has confirmed that representing Italy at the international level is a great honor for him, despite the Nigerian federation reaching out to him earlier. He noted that his choice to play for the Azzurri was a decision he takes pride in.

Michael Kayode said during the press conference: "The Nigerian federation contacted me, but playing for Italy is an honor for anyone. Before the match against Chelsea, I didn't know I had been called up, and I found out about it over the phone, which was incredibly moving."

Michael Kayode spoke about the atmosphere within the Italy national team, highlighting the positive impact of having many young players. He added: "I want to give everything for the team. Mancini spoke to me and explained the tactical work he expects from me, and we always have something to learn. Also, having a leader like Donnarumma is fantastic."

Regarding Italy's failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, Kayode said: "Not participating in the World Cup is painful, but when something bad happens, I always tell myself it can be a new beginning. I tell the fans to stay calm, we are here to work and write a new chapter."

Michael Kayode praised several players who represent a source of inspiration for him, saying: "I have always admired Maldini, and here I have Di Lorenzo who helps me a lot, and he is a real inspiration. My experience in Florence was wonderful, and if I am here today, it is thanks to ACF Fiorentina."
