RB Leipzig renew interest in signing Moroccan Samir El Mourabet

Moroccan international Samir El Mourabet, a midfielder for RC Strasbourg Alsace, is still in the plans of Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, which had previously moved to sign him during the last summer transfer window, according to the transfer news site 'Le Transfer'.

A source has clarified that RB Leipzig have shown serious interest in the 20-year-old player, as the German club entered negotiations with RC Strasbourg Alsace last August, at a time when Samir El Mourabet was eager to embark on a new experience in the Bundesliga.

However, the negotiations were unsuccessful, as Racing Strasbourg decided to keep their young midfielder, forcing Leipzig to change direction and sign Moroccan international Neil Al Ainawi from AS Roma.

According to 'Le Transfert', the possibility of RB Leipzig moving to sign Samir El Mourabet during the winter transfer window remains on the table, with the player's financial value estimated at around €35 million.

Samir El Mourabet is contracted to RC Strasbourg Alsace until June 2030, giving the French club a strong position should new offers for the player arrive in the upcoming period.

Moroccan international Samir El Mourabet has established himself clearly in the RC Strasbourg Alsace lineup during the 2025-2026 season, under the guidance of English coach Liam Roseniour, after signing his first professional contract in his career.
