Italy begins new era with Mancini
Roberto Mancini has begun his second term with the Italy national team, leading his first training session at the Coverciano center in preparation for four matches in the UEFA Nations League over 11 days, starting with a clash against Belgium next Friday. The Italian coach confirmed that his goal is to restore the national team to the place it deserves, emphasizing his desire to achieve victories.
Roberto Mancini has made notable changes to his squad, calling up 9 players for the first time, in a move that reflects his desire to give opportunities to young talents and build a strong group for the future. Mancini stated that the call-up of young players was to get to know them better, monitor them closely, and assess their ability to contribute to the national team.
The squad has undergone two changes due to injuries, as Bryan Cristante left the camp to be replaced by Samuele Ricci, before Federico Dimarco, who has not recovered from his physical issue, also withdrew, leading to Matteo Ruggeri being called up as his replacement.
Italy will begin their campaign against Belgium in Rome on September 25, then travel to Turkey on September 28, before facing France in Saint-Denis on October 2. They will conclude their series of matches with a rematch against Turkey in Bologna on October 5.
Roberto Mancini returns to lead Italy after a previous stint that saw him guide the team to victory in the European Championship 2020. At the start of his new tenure, he confirmed that he wants to build a team capable of competing, relying on a mix of young talents and experienced players.
