Real Madrid responds to Tebas' statements with an official statement

Real Madrid have strongly responded to Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, following his comments this morning criticizing the club for its objections to the refereeing decisions in the Madrid derby against Atlético.

Javier Tebas has launched a fierce attack on Real Madrid via his account on "X", using sharp phrases, including describing the club's official channel as "the system's television", before criticizing what he deemed a recurring narrative from the club regarding officiating.

Tebas said: "When Negreira is not there, it is the referee; and when that is not the case, it is said that he is not international. All clubs can have their matches officiated by international and non-international referees. No club has the right to demand officiating on demand."

"To say that referees are being directed against Real Madrid is to live in another galaxy. This discourse is used as an excuse to cover up other shortcomings that are clearly evident in these early matches of the season. It is easier to point to a conspiracy than to explain what is happening on the pitch."

He continued: "A refereeing error does not prove the existence of a conspiracy, and repeating talk about it for years does not turn it into a fact."

Tebas concluded his message by saying: "They should take the blindfolds off their eyes! We are in September, and they are already saying that the league has been manipulated. The usual excuse is no longer believed by anyone with a modicum of logic."

Real Madrid stated: "Our club considers it unacceptable for the president of LaLiga to use his institutional position to continue belittling and attacking Real Madrid in the manner he does in all his interventions. It is extremely concerning that the person responsible for representing and protecting the interests of all LaLiga clubs continues his repeated obsession against Real Madrid, turning our club into a permanent target for his public attacks."

The club added: "His recent intervention is serious and particularly incomprehensible, and it is not fitting for a responsible director, as it came in response to an article by an independent writer in a digital media outlet. However, he attacks our club and also allows himself to evaluate our sporting strategy, which is completely irresponsible."

Real Madrid stated: "It is completely surprising that the president of LaLiga dedicates his time and personal channels to publicly questioning Real Madrid all the time, instead of contributing, based on the responsibility of his position, to building trust in the institutions that should ensure the neutrality of competition."

He added: "In this way, he continues to harm the image of our competitor and Spanish football in the world."

The club continued in its statement: "In light of this inappropriate behavior that has persisted over time, we see that the professional football competition in Spain urgently needs a responsible person capable of managing it and developing its full potential, with a fundamental commitment to neutrality."

Real Madrid stated: "We need someone who understands the nature of their position, because the president of LaLiga is not the owner of the competition, but a manager who works to serve the clubs that make it up and have entrusted him with its management. We clubs need someone who serves this task with integrity."

The new escalation follows previous comments from Tebas regarding the Madrid derby, in which he said: "I understand the complaints, but I do not understand the way."

The president of LaLiga added at the time: "Real Madrid did not lose because of those situations", before directing further criticism at Real Madrid and the club's channel, stating: "We condemned their behavior a long time ago, and after what happened yesterday, we must continue to talk about ethics. It is an unfair and harsh way to pressure the referee."
