Tottenham's stance on signing Icardi

Tottenham have made their stance clear on signing Argentine Mauro Icardi, the former Galatasaray striker, to bolster head coach Roberto De Zerbi's attacking options, as the team has struggled in front of goal since the start of the season.

Tottenham have spent over £300 million during the summer transfer window to strengthen their squad, but they sit bottom of the Premier League after failing to secure a win in their first five matches.

Italian media have linked Tottenham with a potential move for Icardi, who became a free agent after leaving Galatasaray in July. He has scored 250 goals in 478 matches with Inter, Galatasaray, Paris Saint-Germain, and Sampdoria.

However, Football Insider has clarified that Tottenham do not intend to move for Icardi, and the player is not seen as a suitable option for the club, especially with the inability to register him in the Premier League squad before January.

Tottenham are also cautious about the high financial demands of the Argentine striker, alongside his lack of previous experience in the Premier League, while SS Lazio is among the Italian clubs interested in signing him.

Roberto De Zerbi currently has Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush as his primary options at striker, with Richarlison expected to leave in January.
