According to a statement attributed to Atlético, the club said: "We thought about printing all the refereeing mistakes that benefited Real Madrid, but we would need to cut down all the forests to provide the paper."

The club added sarcastically: "Therefore, in order to protect the environment, we decided not to do that."

This statement comes in light of the controversy that followed the match between Atlético and Real Madrid, which ended with Atlético winning 2-1, and featured several refereeing decisions that drew objections from Real Madrid.
