Abou Rida moves to contain the issue with El Shenawy and Hossam Hassan

This meeting comes in light of the controversy surrounding the future of the international goalkeeper.

According to media reports, Abu Rida's move comes as El Shenawy is contemplating international retirement in the near future, following rumors of disagreements between him and Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Pharaohs.

Hossam Hassan has recently relied on Mostafa Shobair, who performed well during his participation with the Egypt national team in the FIFA World Cup 2026, which has led to El Shenawy being sidelined from the starting lineup of the team.

Shobir's impressive performance has affected El Shenawy's position at Al Ahly FC, as the veteran goalkeeper has become sidelined from the team's main plans under the management of Moroccan coach Al-Hussein Amouta, according to the report.

Mohamed El Shenawy has not joined the Egypt national team camp during the current international break, as Al Ahly FC announced that he will undergo a rehabilitation and physiotherapy program in the coming days due to the injury he sustained.

The Egyptian national team will play two matches against Angola and South Sudan during the current break in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, before they meet South Africa in a Friendly.
