Barcelona eye Brazilian defender

FC Barcelona continues to monitor young talents, with reports indicating that João Amaral, the club's head of scouting, attended the match between Club Athletico Paranaense and Esporte Clube Bahia to watch Brazilian defender Arthur Díaz, who is 19 years old.

Arthur Díaz plays as a centre-back and is left-footed. He has been called up to the Brazil national team for the first time by Carlo Ancelotti during the current international break, after having served as captain of the under-20 national team, and he has played 50 matches for the first team of Club Athletico Paranaense.

The defender is attracting interest from 11 clubs, including FC Barcelona, Tottenham, Newcastle, Atlético, SL Benfica, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and Leipzig. Atlético Paranaense rejected a bid from Tottenham last summer that was close to €21 million for 80% of the player's rights, while the club currently values him at €30 million.

Barcelona and Club Athletico Paranaense have a good relationship following previous negotiations regarding Vitor Roque, which may assist the Catalan club if they decide to move for Arthur Díaz.
