The truth about Ashraf Sobhi's candidacy for Zamalek SC presidency

Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, has announced his position regarding the candidacy for the presidency of Zamalek SC, confirming that he does not intend to run for any sports electoral position in the upcoming period.

The former minister clarified in a post on his official Facebook account that he appreciates what is being circulated about his nomination for the presidency of Zamalek SC, thanking everyone who sees him as qualified to take on this responsibility.

He said: "I appreciate with all respect what is being said about my nomination for the presidency of Zamalek SC, and I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who sees in me the eligibility to bear this great responsibility."

Sobhi reflected on his sports and administrative career, detailing his roles as a player, coach, and then as the head of the karate department, as well as the head of marketing and investment at Zamalek SC, alongside his one-year membership in the appointed board of the Egyptian Football Association.

He progressed through various leadership positions in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, where he managed the Cairo Stadium Authority for two years, followed by serving as the assistant minister for the same duration, before culminating his career by holding the ministerial portfolio for eight consecutive years.

The former Minister of Youth and Sports reaffirmed his stance regarding his previous position in the ministry, stating: "Despite my pride in this journey, my great appreciation for Zamalek SC and its rich history, and my full respect for all Egyptian sports institutions, I reiterate what I announced during my time in the ministry, that I do not intend to run for any sports electoral position."

Sobhi revealed his current focus on his academic career, explaining: "I am currently dedicating myself to my academic career as a Professor Doctor of Sports Management, and to my role as an advisor to the President of the British University in Egypt for the development of sports education, believing in the importance of knowledge and education in building the future of Egyptian sports."

In closing his post, the former sports official expressed his gratitude to everyone, decisively putting an end to the speculation regarding his electoral stance by confirming his decision to abstain from entering the presidential race for Zamalek SC in the upcoming term.
