Omar Fayed called up for Egypt national team camp to replace Hamdy Fathy

Ibrahim Hassan, the manager of the Egypt national football team, has announced the call-up of Omar Fayed, who plays for Frosinone in Italy, to join the Egypt national team camp, to replace Hamdy Fathy, who suffered an injury while with his club Al-Wakrah yesterday.

Egypt's national team is preparing to face Angola and South Sudan, scheduled for September 25 and 29, in the first two rounds of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027. They will then play a friendly against South Africa on October 4 at Cairo Stadium.

Hamdy Fathy is ruled out of Egypt's next three matches due to a medical decision, joining the list of injured players that includes Trezeguet and Yasser Ibrahim, according to national team director Ibrahim Hassan.

Egypt's national team is in Group B of the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers alongside Angola, South Sudan, and Malawi.
