Mourinho sparks controversy in press conference with provocative image

José Mourinho, the manager of Real Madrid, sparked widespread controversy following the end of the capital derby against Atlético, after he brought with him to his press conference a picture that included two controversial moments from the match.

The image showed Cristian Romero's challenge on Jude Bellingham, alongside Kang-in Lee's tackle on Federico Valverde, in two instances that Mourinho considered should have resulted in a red card.

Jose Mourinho spoke at the press conference after the match: "We can save time for ourselves because the story of the match is right here," before showing the image that includes the clips of the fouls on Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham.

The Portuguese coach added: "These are two clear red cards."

José Mourinho's comments came after Real Madrid's defeat to Atlético Madrid by two goals to nil in a derby that featured several controversial refereeing decisions, the most notable being the failure to send off Cristian Romero and Kang-in Lee. Meanwhile, Real Madrid suffered a significant blow with the sending off of their defender Dean Huijsen in the second half.
