Laporta reveals details of failed deal for Julián Alvarez
Joan Laporta, the president of FC Barcelona, spoke about the negotiations that took place with Atlético regarding the signing of Julián Alvarez during this summer's transfer window.
Laporta said in his remarks: "Atlético showed their true colors. They acted as if they were the aggrieved party, and they had no way to justify their position. We did what is usually done, there were conversations between the two clubs."
The president of FC Barcelona added: "I spoke with Gil Marín, the CEO, and he told me that Julián Alvarez would not come because they did not have a replacement, then Atlético responded inappropriately. I don't know what caused that. I can imagine the reason, but I have no evidence."
He continued in his speech, saying: "We were hearing reports that they would sell him to any club in the world except FC Barcelona. And that is indeed what happened; they were ready to sell Julián Alvarez to any club in the world, but not to us."
Laporta concluded his remarks by stating: "The matter is now in the past, and we are very happy with our current squad."
