Al Talaba management imposes sanctions on team players
Al Talaba issued an official statement today, Friday, announcing that a heavy financial penalty has been imposed on all first-team football players.
The administrative body of the club stated: "The administrative body of Al Talaba has decided to impose a financial penalty on all players by deducting 10% from the value of their contracts."
The statement clarified that the penalty comes due to the team's declining results and poor performance in recent matches, as Al Talaba is experiencing one of its worst starts in the Iraq Stars League.
The statement added: "The management will double the penalty if this decline in results and performance continues, and that the team's position in the standings does not befit the name of the club, its history, and its large fanbase."
The team drew with Al Jolan yesterday, 2-2, in the eighth round of the league, in a match that they were expected to win easily.
Al Talaba are currently sitting in 17th place with only 7 points, consisting of one win, four draws, and three losses. These are catastrophic figures for a team that is considered among the elite in the Iraq league, prompting the management to take this strict decision to awaken the players before it's too late.
