AC Monza secures first win with two goals against Sassuolo
AC Monza secured their first win of the Serie A season, defeating Sassuolo 2-1 in the match that took place on Friday evening as part of the opening round of the fifth matchday of the competition.
Antonio Varela opened the scoring for AC Monza in the 51st minute, capitalising on a mistake from the Sassuolo goalkeeper after a header from inside the penalty area, giving the home side the lead in the match.
Farella doubled the score in the 63rd minute with a successful penalty for AC Monza after a late challenge from Sebastiano Esposito on Dani Mota, putting his team in a comfortable position during the second half of the match.
Sassuolo attempted to come back in the match, and Vasiliy Azdich managed to reduce the deficit in the 88th minute from a free kick, but Monza held on to their lead until the final whistle, securing their first three points of the Serie A season, while Sassuolo suffered their second defeat.
