Monaco beat Lens to top Ligue 1
Monaco secured a valuable victory over their visitors Lens with a score of 2-1 on Friday evening, in the 5th round of the French league, climbing to the top of the standings with 11 points.
Monaco opened the scoring in the 32nd minute through Paris Brunner, who capitalised on a pass from Matthijs Abeline and placed the ball into the net against Lens, ending the first half with the hosts leading by a goal to nil.
Lens equalised in the 57th minute through Matthieu Odou, who scored with a header from a corner.
Monaco returned to clinch the match in the 84th minute, after Lens defender Jonathan Gradit scored an own goal, granting the principality team three valuable points and placing them at the top of the table.
With this win, Monaco have raised their tally to 11 points, temporarily ahead of Lille who have 10 points, while Lens remain on 4 points.
