Raphinha decides on contract renewal with FC Barcelona
The Brazilian Raphinha, the new captain of FC Barcelona, has confirmed his wish to continue with the Catalan club for a longer time, with the possibility of extending his contract, which ends in 2028.
Raphinha said during an interview with the program "Tu diras" on RAC1 radio: "Yes, I am thinking about renewing. When I renewed my contract, I did so until 2028, with the idea that I would be 30 or 31 years old, and I didn't know how I would reach that time."
He added: "But with the way I started the season, I see that I can continue for several more years, and I would be very happy to extend my contract, and I hope to finish my career here without needing to move elsewhere."
Raphinha has made a strong start to the season, scoring 11 goals in 7 matches, making him one of the standout players for coach Hans Flick. He has also been given the team's captaincy by the German coach.
Raphinha's comments come after 'Sport' reported that sporting director Deco held an informal meeting with him in a restaurant in Castelldefels to discuss the possibility of extending his contract.
FC Barcelona are in no rush to finalize an agreement with Raphinha, who is under contract until 2028. However, both parties share the desire to continue working together, while the player has publicly stated that he hopes to end his career wearing the FC Barcelona shirt.
