Garnacho out of Emery's plans as Aston Villa boss sends him a harsh message
Alejandro Garnacho faces a tough start with Aston Villa, as Unai Emery has revealed that the player is still lagging behind his teammates physically. This comes amid a decline in his role within the team since his loan move from Chelsea.
Garnacho remained on the bench throughout Aston Villa's match against Coventry City, which ended in a 3-1 victory for Villa in the EFL Cup, despite Emery making seven changes to the starting lineup.
The Argentine player has not participated for a single minute in the last three consecutive matches, having only played 31 minutes across all competitions since the start of the current season.
Emery stated that Garnacho is "a little behind" his teammates in terms of physical readiness, indicating that the Argentine winger still needs to work to regain his physical level and become more involved in the coach's plans.
Garnacho's difficult start comes as he is on loan from Chelsea to Aston Villa for the season, with a conditional mandatory purchase clause worth £42.5 million.
