Juan García injury rules him out for Barcelona for three weeks

Barcelona have announced that first-team goalkeeper Joan García is suffering from a meniscus injury in his right knee, following medical examinations to determine the nature of the injury.

Garcia suffered an injury during the match between Barcelona and Racing Santander, which ended with the Catalan team winning 7-2, after he slipped near his goal due to the wet pitch. He felt pain in his knee and left the pitch at half-time, with Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny replacing him.

According to initial medical estimates, the Spanish goalkeeper is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks, with no need for surgical intervention at this time. His return will be determined more precisely by his response to treatment and recovery programme.

Garcia will miss the upcoming match against Barcelona against Sevilla, but much of his absence coincides with the international break, giving him a chance to complete his recovery before returning to competition. His potential participation against Getafe on October 10 will depend on the progress of his condition over the coming weeks.

The current injury is in the right knee, which is different from his previous injury in the left knee where he suffered a meniscus tear and underwent surgery. During Garcia's absence, Barcelona will depend on Wojciech Szczęsny, alongside goalkeeper Dominik Livaković.
